ADA revises resource after ruling on autodialing
The ADA Division of Legal Affairs has updated information for dental practices at ADA.org/PhoningPatients in the wake of an April 1 Supreme Court ruling that narrowed the definition of "automatic telephone dialing system," ADA News reports. The ADA has advocated for the narrower definition. The ADA's legal division says the decision could make it easier for dental practices to avoid devices that could be considered autodialers, but the change does not eliminate risk of noncompliance. A sample consent form has been made available by the ADA for dental practices that call or send text messages to their patients, but dentists should be sure to discuss compliance with their legal advisers.
