Study: Patients with prosthetic joints do not need antibiotic prophylaxis
A study from the UK, published in JAMA Network Open, did not find evidence to support the use of antibiotic prophylaxis in patients with prosthetic joints before invasive dental procedures, HealthDay News reported. The study did not find a significant association between the dental procedures and subsequent late prosthetic joint infection, confirming the guidance in the ADA Clinical Practice Guideline published in 2015.
