Professional Liability Insurance
MLMIC (Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company) Program, a committed partnership, is a mutual insurance company, owned and managed by the dentists and physicians it insures. MLMIC was founded in 1975 by physicians in New York State in response to a professional liability insurance crisis, when commercial insurers no longer were willing to provide coverage. In 1992, NYSDA joined together with MLMIC to form the NYSDA-MLMIC Program for Professional Liability Insurance, ensuring that NYSDA dentists benefit from being insured by the one company that has defended more health care professionals than all other professional liability insurers combined. With three billion dollars in assets and almost one billion dollars in surplus, MLMIC has an A- (Excellent) rating from A.M. Best and is the country's largest mutual insurers of dentists and physicians. MLMIC's only business is writing malpractice liability insurance in New York State. Because MLMIC does not use brokers or agents to sell the plan, there are no commissions or brokerage fees to be paid, and the premium rates are at, or below, the commercial market. Not only will you save money by switching to this program, but, even more important, you will be covered by a company whose only purpose is to provide the best malpractice coverage available. In fact, any excess premiums are returned to you, the policyholder. Join your colleagues in the only program run by dentists for dentists. All who successfully complete a Risk Management course will receive a certificate entitling them to a Ten Percent (10%) Discount on their renewal from MLMIC and most other insurance companies, for three (3) years (please check with your individual carrier to ascertain applicability of this program). For more information about this program, call a company underwriter at (800) 683-7769.
